Wines, spirits and beers from around the globe will give beverage enthusiasts a world tour of what’s exciting and exceptional at the three-night, 38th Annual UNLVino®.
Nevada’s largest and oldest Wine Festival, UNLVino not only showcases an international beverage array but also raises thousands of dollars for scholarships for students at the UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration.
To launch the fundraising, and “funraising,” corks pop on world-class champagnes and sparkling wines at “Bubble-licious” from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, at the spectacular Cleveland Clinic-Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, designed by world-famous architect Frank Gehry. Tickets are $100 in advance; $125 at the door.
“Sake Fever” follows from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, March 23, around the pool at the Mirage. Catch the Fever! the way it’s served up at UNLVino. Over 100 premium sakes will be presented by Japanese Brew Masters. Since sake is a “brewed” beverage, the highly popular evening also spotlights innovative beers. Tickets are $60 in advance; $85 at the door.
At the Grand Tasting at the Grand Ballroom at Bally’s on Saturday, March 24, hundreds of varietals and vintages will take wine lovers to the famous wine regions around the world. There’s much more for guests to enjoy as they “sip for scholarship.” Food prepared by UNLV Hotel College students, original cocktails shaken and stirred by master mixologists, and upbeat entertainment will highlight the evening from 7-10 p.m. Advance tickets are $75; at the door, its $100.
Each night will also honor a recipient of the 2012 Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence: Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, Thursday night at Bubble-Licious; Renée West, President and COO of Luxor and Excalibur, Friday night at Sake Fever; and Celebrity Chef/Restaurateur Michel Richard, Saturday night at the Grand Tasting. Students of UNLV’s Hotel College honor three individuals who have “distinguished themselves by setting an example through their inspirational leadership, character, and work ethic.”
