Hello Rebel fans,

We hope you are getting ready to spend time with your loved ones this Thanksgiving Weekend. And, while you're at it, we hope you'll spend time with your UNLV Rebels as well. There are many opportunities over the holiday weekend to do so. THANK YOU for being a part of the Rebel Family:

RUNNIN' REBELS IN GLOBAL SPORTS CLASSIC - FRIDAY & SATURDAY

Your No. 18 Runnin' Rebels - the subject of a USA Today feature story this week - will face off against Oregon at 6 p.m. PT on Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center and then play either No. 20/22 Cincinnati or Iowa State on Saturday night. We've had amazing crowds our first two games at the T&M and expect more strong crowds this weekend. Get your tickets today.

REBEL VOLLEYBALL CLOSES SEASON - TONIGHT & FRIDAY

Our young women's volleyball team - currently in third place in the Mountain West - closes the season with two matches at home in the Cox Pavilion - tonight at 7 p.m. vs. Boise State and Friday at 4 p.m. vs. Air Force. ANYONE WITH TICKETS TO FRIDAY NIGHT'S RUNNIN' REBEL GAME IS INVITED TO WATCH FRIDAY'S VOLLEYBALL MATCH FOR FREE. Show your basketball ticket at the box office to receive a free ticket to volleyball. It's a GREAT action sport. You'll be glad you did. Click here for tickets.

LADY REBEL ROUND-UP - SATURDAY & SUNDAY

Make it another Scarlet. Gray. Saturday by checking out the Lady Rebels take on Montana at 1 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion before the Runnin' Rebel game that evening.  The Lady Rebels will conclude the Lady Rebel Round-Up on Sunday vs. either Villanova or Bowling Green. Click here for tickets.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU - UNLV TV

At the request of Brian Greenspun, I had the opportunity to spend some time yesterday at the annual Sun Youth Forum talking with some of the brightest young minds in all of Las Vegas. It was an amazing experience...  I bring this tie up because of what UNLV TV - part of UNLV's Greenspun College of Urban Affairs - has done in recent months for UNLV Athletics. The streaming of select Rebel games through UNLVRebels.com (produced by students) is becoming more and more popular and is providing fans with more access to our sports than ever before. THANK YOU to all involved with the process and THANK YOU to those fans who have voiced their support. We are doing it for you and for the students to get real world experience. It's a perfect win-win partnership - and that is what a university should be about.

YOUR REBELS IN THE COMMUNITY

Finally, I want to end this altered version of the "From the Desk Of" by giving you a glimpse of some of the things your UNLV student-athletes and coaches are doing to make Southern Nevada a better place to live. Below is our recent Community Outreach newsletter highlighting many of our experiences over the past seven months. When you are involved in athletics, you have a great platform to do special things in a community and I am THANKFUL that we work with a group of people who take this seriously... A special thank you goes out to our Director of Community Relations Bridget Byrne. She is a native of Las Vegas and a former Rebel student-athlete. She makes us all better as she truly lives the Scarlet. Gray. Every Day. Enjoy reading - I know I did:

Have a great Thanksgiving and we hope to see you on campus this weekend. Thank you for everything you do to make us better.

For the Rebels,
