Get Your Reb On

Hello Rebels Fans,

We hope you are enjoying receiving these updates about UNLV Athletics as much as we enjoy prepping them for you...

Rivalry Week
There's always a special feeling around campus when you are coming off a win and going into a big rivalry week in football. We hope you will join us out at Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday night at 7 p.m. as we take on Nevada, Reno in the annual battle for the Fremont Cannon ... The Wolf Pack comes into town 4-0 (coming off a win at BYU on Saturday) and ranked in the Associated Press' Top 25 for the first time in 62 years ... While all of us associated with UNLV Athletics would like nothing more than to send the Pack back north with its first loss of the season, we ask that you help us treat our rival student-athletes and fans with dignity and class. We'll get after them in good spirits (and our team will get after them on the field), but please be respectful to all those around you ... Let's be sure to Get Our Reb On, but let's do it first class. Thank you.

First Rebel Win
Congratulations to football coach Bobby Hauck, his staff and his team for knocking off New Mexico on Saturday night, 45-10. It's the first win of many more to come for Hauck here at UNLV. We look forward to experiencing the evolution of this football program.

Hot Start
Our women's soccer team improved to 8-3 on the season this past weekend and will open up Mountain West Conference play at home on Friday night against New Mexico. The Rebels are led by first-year head coach Jen Klein, who is the youngest coach in the nation at just 26 years of age. Congratulations on the great start to the season!

Letterwinners Tailgate Party
We
'll be holding our first ever Letterwinners Tailgate Party this Saturday before the football game against Nevada, Reno. The exclusive event, just for former UNLV letterwinners, will be held in the Rebel Experience, next to the Rebel Athletic Fund Tent, in the parking lot of Sam Boyd Stadium at 5 p.m.

The tailgate will feature food and drink hospitality, and is free of charge to all former letterwinners plus one guest. Each letterwinner will receive one free ticket to the game, which will be handed out on site. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at a discounted rate ... Those interested in attending can RSVP by emailing the Rebel Athletic Fund at rebelathleticfund@unlv.edu with the word "tailgate" in the subject line.

Hall of Fame this Friday
We featured it in our last update, but just a reminder that this Friday we will induct the 2010 class of the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame at the beautiful M Resort. For more information, please contact Brian Finn in the Rebel Athletic Fund at 702-895-4753. Hope to see you there.

Meeting Our Team
In future updates, we will be introducing you to key members of the UNLV Intercollegiate Athletics team. We will begin by focusing on the administrative staff, which is made up of myself as well as our Deputy Director of Athletics, Jerry Koloskie, and our five Sr. Associate Athletics Directors (in alphabetical order) - D.J. Allen, Terry Cottle, Julio Freire, Lisa Kelleher and Eric Toliver. Former UNLV AD Brad Rothermel is also a crucial part of the administrative team as a special advisor ... This team is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department as well as directing the department's vision. We have a unique blend of people new to the department as well as people who have a lot of history here. I think you will enjoy learning more about them in the future as we are all here to serve you.

Thank you for allowing us to share a few things that are taking place in the Rebel Athletics world. Hope you have GREAT REBEL WEEK and we appreciate the support!

Sincerely,

Jim Livengood

Jim Livengood
Director of Athletics
